Bob Eubanks

For four decades, Bob Eubanks wrote television history as host of the incredibly successful The Newlywed Game.  He has served as the genial host for game shows on all three networks.  Currently Bob can be seen four times a day on Sony’s Game show Network.  Bob is a multiple Emmy Award winner and is seen each year at the Tournament of Roses New Year’s Day Parade.  Surprising many of his fans, he is a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and participated in competition in team roping as well as serving as television commentator for the National finals Rodeo.  Bob has managed the careers of Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell and Marty Robbins.  Bob Eubanks career has gone full circle from as usher to being the recipient of one of Hollywood’s most prestigious accomplishments, a Star on the Hollywood Walk of fame.

David Lampton - November 8, 2007

David Lampton

Dr. David M Lampton is Dean of Faculty, George and Sadie Hyman Professor and director of China Studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and Founding director of China Studies at the Nixon Center.  He received his Ph.D. and undergraduate degrees from Stanford University, and honorary doctorate from the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Far Eastern Studies and has lived in Taiwan and Hong Kong.  He is a consultant to various government agencies and corporations.  Author of several books related to China, currently writing a book on Chinese power and it’s implications for the global marketplace.

Robert Kurson - January 17, 2008

Robert Kurson

Robert Kurson grew up and currently still lives in the suburbs of the windy city, Chicago.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin, followed by a law degree from Harvard Law School.  His career track started when he accepted a job as a data entry clerk at the Chicago Sun-Times, a position that led him to a full-time “features” writing job.  In his book “Shadow Divers”, he tells us the story of two ordinary men who, in 1991, discovered a World War II German U-boat sunk just 60 miles off the New Jersey coast.

Alexandra Leaf - February 14, 2008

Alexandra Leaf

Alexandra Leaf is a culinary Historian.  She has been featured on the TV Food Network and on CNN’s weekly food show “On the Menu”.  With her knowledge of culinary history, French literature, and the art of the Impressionist painters, Alexandra will illustrate this rich and colorful time in France’s history.  She is the author of both books; “The Impressionists’ Table: Recipes and Gastronomy of Nineteenth Century France” and “The Art of Cuisine” a collection of Recipes and artwork by Toulouse-Lautrec.

Carmel Quinn - March 13, 2008

Carmel Quinn

“The Irish Voice”, as she is known.  Carmel was born in Dublin, Ireland and began her singing career with the Bobby Murphy Orchestra.  Ms. Quinn appeared as a guest on the Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts Radio show and ultimately stayed on as a “regular” for six additional years.  She has appeared in numerous musicals, many commercials.  She also has performed at Carnegie Hall and Nightclubs.  Carmel will join the Downriver Town Hall Lecture Series in the time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!
